This is our first and last year at Donna's School of Dance. My daughter is six and in the hip hop class. The teacher has no idea how to keep the children engaged. (However, we have had substitute teachers with more experience that are great. The kids have fun and actually learn something.) What's worse, is that I found out that they do the same dance every year, so if we did come back next season, I'd be paying to see that same routine drilled into my daughter's head and no actual dance experience e.g., various moves and what they are called, or safety to avoid knee injury, etc. Also, I am paying $70 for a recital fee!? All this wouldn't be so bad to put up with if they had an instructor that was comfortable around kids, and knew how to motivate them. We did dance for 2 years in Pullman WA through Park & Rec, and never had a recital fee, or the same dance done twice. It was also much cheaper. I feel like because they put "school" in their title they can charge more and offer much less.
