Ahh well, Cash & Carry has just lost a 4-year business customer. We bought a glass jar for iced tea with a metal stand. The stand was broken when we opened the box. When my wife (from Taiwan) returned the stand, the manager refused to exchange the item. When informed that they were losing a 4-year business customer, the response was literally (and I am not kidding) "I don't care." Fortunately, we have other sources for EVERYTHING that we bought there (Costco appreciates the hostility to customers, I'm sure). I suspect that if it had been her Caucasian husband, the item would have been exchanged and that the hostility expressed by the manager would not have occurred. We will also be telling our extensive network of immigrant customers and business associates about our experience.
