The White River Buddhist Temple is a great place to learn about and practice Buddhism. It has a very family centered atmosphere, the members are every friendly, open and accepting of all types of people and backgrounds. The temple is very diverse and everyone will feel welcome. The temple was founded in 1912, this is the second building that was built in 1962. It is part of the Jodo Shinshu (Pure Land) Buddhist tradition of Japan. The Jodo Shinshu tradition follows the teachings of Amida Buddha (The Buddha of Infinite Light and Life) and the teachings of the great Buddhist saint, Shinran Shonin. They also have Zen Shin meditation most Sunday mornings at 9 A.M., a Dharma (Sunday) school for the children as well Qi-Gong classes as scheduled.
