Coming to the Rain Forest Village was a last-minute spontaneous idea. We had never heard of it nor were we familiar at all with the area.
We're definitely glad we came here. The Rain Forest Resort is composed of several different types of lodgings (cabins, in-style rooms, RV grounds) and their front desk is located in their general store. Checking in was easy enough and the girl who took care of us was super friendly. She gave us a lot of info about the area and provided us with maps as well.
There is a restaurant walking distance from the cabins called The Salmon House and the food was certainly tasty. We had a cabin and from the porch, you get a view of that beautiful lake. The cabin itself isn't overly fancy and seems dated, but the room is certainly comfortable enough, with your own fireplace, bathroom, closet, and table and chairs. The bed was actually much more comfortable than I thought it would be. I didn't care for the carpet in the cabin but it doesn't detract greatly.
Make sure you drive the loop around the lake. It is completely worthwhile, with two beautiful waterfalls to see and plenty of views of the river.
