I have been a mom at prince of peace preschool and I have had a great experience all three years. I read the policy book and it does state doors don't open until 8:55 am. The teachers do a short devotional and pray before class. They have always been in their room by 8:55. They also use handwriting without tears their curriculum and it was great for my daughter. In the threes class they start off doing activities that are very age appropriate and as the year progresses they do some more challenging activities still very age appropriate. The fours continue learning all the things they need for kindergarten and are very well prepared at the end of their year. My daughter loved the teachers their and I felt like she was prepared for kindergarten. If a person is wondering what they will be learning they could come and check out our curriculum in all classes. I would definitely recommend this school.
Thinking about taking your little to Prince of Peace preschool? My son was excited for school every morning...You know a school is amazing when you tell your child to brush their teeth or they won't GET to go to school, and they stop what they are doing and run to the bathroom. My son attended last year and part of this year. We had to withdraw this year due to a need for an afternoon class (I am going to school as well, and only have afternoon options available). It's been a month and a half since our schedule change, and he still asks to go. Sue, the director of the preschool program, was nothing but supportive of the change, and did not require any kind of fee or extra tuition to compensate for leaving. My son has severe food allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. I could not believe how carefully they monitored the snacks brought in, and even requested that I have a separate bin of snacks for him just in case they did not have access to the labels. They had his epi pens in the room, and asked if I preferred that they carry the pens with them for outside playtime (where there is no food). The level of thoughtfulness was astounding, and I felt very comfortable leaving my son in their hands. My son also has special needs. He is not defined by them, of course, but they do present a challenge. Last year, when my son started, he was struggling. He was being disruptive to his class and not getting on with his teacher. The teacher and I sat down with Sue and discussed his behavior. We all agreed that his current class wasn't the best fit, and we changed classes to her class (last year she did both! Amazing!). She is the kindest, most patient and loving person I could've hoped for as his teacher. He THRIVED. She had a keen eye for his cues, and was on top of it right away. I don't know how other preschools deal with difficult situations, but Prince of Peace is masterful. His teacher this year was wonderful as well. She has children of her own and enough education to make you blush (why are you teaching my kid letters?!) So, to recap....if you are a Pinterest mom or a hot mess, you will feel welcome here. I feel like I have been both. I have been nothing but impressed and grateful to this preschool and all of the staff. My son brought home enough beautiful art that I had to re-think my storage situation. Every day he sings songs that he learned while he was in preschool. That is a gift. If you are considering this preschool, pray on it. Go in and meet this amazing staff (I guarantee they will make time for you). Talk to the director and the families of the children that are attending, and ask them what they like about it. Talk to the children. Pray, and then make a decision for you and your family.
