If someone in your group has physical limitations or if you’re going with little ones, Old Sauk Trial is the perfect trail to visit! There is a small parking area at the trailhead that is easily marked with a sign of the trail and larger boulders that separate the entrance of the trailhead to where cars may park. At only 1.5 Miles in, we were able to have our usual snack stop and overlook the pristine flowing water while sitting on a log. The trail is taken care of very well. There was no traffic heading into our going out (vehicle). Pay attention to weather advisories if you’re going in the winter as the roads were a bit icy (no chains required). No pass is required to park.
A great hike for those looking to take a break from elevation change. Beautiful views of the Sauk river with a number of places to access the water. Bring a plant identification manual in the spring and learn about some of the amazing flowers and ferns growing along the trail.
