I think quite a lot of people are having bad experiences with DABCO, but only a few write these stories, ignoring them as minor injustices and unfair nuisances. I ignore them too, but ignoring small dishonesties nourishes bigger dishonest. I will briefly write about my experiences as a tenet in DABCO apartments for a number of years. This I am writing with an aim that those who might be looking to rent an apartment might make right decision or take proper precautions when renting an apartment with DABCO. DABCO is dishonest; this is my perception; make sure to take care of the following things when renting at DABCO (these are my stories, you draw the conclusions): 1. DABCO will never ever return your damage or security deposit. A number of my friends, some of whom had stayed just for one month and had to leave because of some reasons, complained that DABCO didn't return even their damage deposit; DABCO scammed these tenets on one or the other pretext. When you rent an apartment, make sure that you check each nook and corner of your apartment, report any damage and document by taking photographs or videos before permanently using the apartment. This may help you a little bit in recovering some of your deposit at the end. 2. That DABCO is dishonest can be gauged by the fact that I once left DABCO apartment one or two months before the lease end date. I requested DABCO to rent my apartment if possible, and if any body rents my apartment during the time the lease is still on my name , I may be able to save some money. They refused to do so. I came to know a few days later, through one of my friends here in Pullman, that DABCO had rented the apartment (which officially was still mine, though I had already left pullman permanently) to someone else even though I was told to pay AVISTA bills and full rent. I made DABCO to return me some of the rent money because they had rented my apartment to some one else (without my knowledge though). They, however, took major part of money back by alleging that I had broken an apartment door. I never did any wresting in the apartment to have broken any doors or walls. :) 3. If you stay longer at their apartment, and the rent during this time has gone up and lot of tenets are available, which usually happens when student inflow is high, DABCO clerks will try to manufacture every excuse to evict you from the apartment. If you want to stay longer, be prompt in sending them emails for lease extension; keep record of everything. This is precisely the reason that they prefer six month's lease when they suspect competition for apartments is high (high student inflow means the rent goes up and the new security deposits from new tenets also piles up). They did this to me as well; they did not extend my lease on flimsy grounds. When I told DABCO to renew my lease, they concocted a story that since I haven't properly contacted them four months before and therefore, my lease will not be renewed, although I had multiple verbal communications before and an email communication too that showed my interest in renewal of the lease. Ironically, they offered me a new apartment--not only offered but tried to convince me that I have better bargain renting a DABCO apartment than moving out. But this favor was done only if I paid new higher rent rates and with a fresh security deposit. 4. The layout of the most of the apartments buildings is good. Most of the second and third floor apartments receive plenty of sunlight. Apartments are, however, very tiny. If you rent the same size apartment somewhere else, you may get them on much lower prices. DABCO cleverly prices its apartments at par with bigger dimension apartments found somewhere else in Pullman. This is primarily the reason that apartments are constructed in a way that lets a lot of light in, and the apartment size doesn't become apparent when you view the apartment for the first time. 5. I don't remember their names, but the staff is rude. No surprise, they are DABCO's hands of dishonesty
